Issue No 18

11th February 2010

Dear Parents,

Many thanks to Brunel form group for their informative assembly on Tuesday about building positive bridges with those around school. I did mention that the most imortant bridge that students build is with their teachers.  The assembly ended with Paz Ampofo who sang to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  Thank you to Mr Rudland who supported Paz by playing the piano.

Student’s conduct and behaviour to and from school plays an important role in the reputation of the school. Whilst a student is still in the Chafford School uniform they are still representing the school. As this is such a  small community we are informed by members of the public of any misdemeanours. I do urge parents to speak to their child about their behaviour in the community and towards their peers whilst walking home or to school.

For year 11 students, things are moving at a fast pace. The final exam timetable has been issued. Students are now attending interviews for college places, and prom letters have been distributed. The only item left on the agenda is for students to start revising and ensuring that they are up to date with coursework.  There are revision classes that are running during the half term. Students should have received a letter with dates and times that subjects are running.

Have a good half term break.

Regards,

Mrs R Jhita

Head of Endeavour House

Slessor would have received the trophy between January 25th and 29th with 99% attendance however the trophy had not been delivered!

Fossey this week has now been given the trophy with 97%. Miss Clarke stated that her form group will not be giving up the trophy in hurry! Best keep up the attendance then!

Apologies for omitting Jamie Reed from the last newsletter for achieving his Bronze award.

Well done to Morgan Attard who has been chosen to represent Upminster Rugby Club on a tour to France during half term.

I hope the year 10 students Kieron Braun, Ellie Fawsitt, Zoe Hoddy and Charlie Johnson find Palmers Excellence day enlightening.

Well done and thank you to Sarah Ellisdon and Kieran Braun and to all others  who raised funds for the Children in Need Appeal.

I would like to feature names of children who are successful in any extra-curricular activities. Please encourage your child to mention their successes to me (and that is including year 11 students!)
