Uniform 2008 policy

The school uniform has been kept simple, in keeping with modern trends of dress. Items can be bought from the school shop. The school jumper and the summer shirt/blouse must be bought from the school shop as they have an embroidered school logo. 

Boys

  • Shoes: Plain black leather, imitation leather, suede or patent; or ankle boots. No contrasting stitching.
  • Socks: Plain grey, white or black.
  • Shirt: Plain white with collar suitable to take a tie; may be short or long sleeved, must be tucked into trousers.
  • Summer Shirt: Compulsory from summer half term to October half term. Optional from Easter.
  • Jumper/Cardigan: (Optional) Plain black, V-necked with school logo. No alternative jumper or cardigan allowed.
  • Tie: Black and red stripes (or prefect tie in Year 11).
  • Blazer: Black with red school badge.
  • Trousers: Plain black, straight cut, medium width, regular fit or pleated; may have turn-ups; shoe length. 

Girls

  • Shoes: Plain black leather, imitation leather, suede or patent; low heel (two and a half inches maximum) or flat. Ankle boots only with trousers. No strapless or backless shoes. No sequins, beads or contrasting stitching.
  • Socks: Plain grey, white or black; knee or ankle length.
  • or Tights: Neutral, grey, white or black. No patterned tights.
  • Shirt: Plain white with collar suitable to take a tie; may be short or long sleeved, must be tucked into skirt or trousers.
  • Summer Compulsory from summer half term to October half term.
  • Shirt/blouse: Optional from Easter.
  • Jumper/Cardigan: (Optional) Plain black, V-necked with school logo. No alternative jumper or cardigan allowed.
  • Tie: Black and red stripes (or prefect tie in Year 11).
  • Blazer: Black with red school badge.
  • Skirt: Plain black, knee length, ‘A’ line style, no split, may include a fan pleat; or fully pleated. No lycra.
  • Trousers: Plain black, straight cut, medium width, regular fit or pleated, may have turn-ups; shoe length. No Lycra. No fashion styles including ‘boot leg’, ‘ski pants’, ‘flared’, ‘drainpipe’ or jeans.

Boys & Girls

General: Outer coats must be suitable to be worn over a blazer, as a
blazer must be worn at all times.
Outer coats must be PLAIN BLACK - plain black cagoules are ideal.
Hooded sweatshirts are not appropriate for school.
Long hair should be tied back (when appropriate).
Hair ornaments should be red, black or white.
Ties should be worn with 7 black stripes showing. 

ALL ITEMS SHOULD BE CLEARLY LABELLED WITH CHILD’S FULL NAME

Not Allowed

  • Shoes  Canvas shoes (eg Converse style), plimsolls, trainers, high heels, platforms. Ankle boots with a skirt.     Strapless/backless shoes. Shoes with contrasting stitching, sequins or beads.
  • Socks or Tights Pattern or stripes.
  • Shirt Fashion blouses or shirts, motifs, knitted sports shirts, T-shirts.
  • Jumper/Cardigan ‘Fashion’ cardigans, other styles of jumper.
  • Outer garments Colours other than black. Hooded sweatshirts.
  • Jewellery Except an inexpensive wrist watch. Sleepers/studs are not permitted in pierced ears or other body parts.
  • Make Up Noticeable eye make-up or lipstick. Noticeable nail varnish.
  • Hairstyles Extremes of styles and colour in hair. No shaven hair (a Number 2 cut is the shortest allowed). Other coloured hair ornaments.
