This statement encapsulates the key elements of our mission as a school. It crystallises our vision, which is to imbed a culture of success into the fabric of the educational process at The Chafford School.

Our vision encompasses not only the school, but also the wider community, so that it too shares our ambitious, yet achievable future.

Exceptional levels of ICT provision will permeate the curriculum of The Chafford School.

We will use Business and Enterprise college status as a springboard to raise levels of achievement still higher.

We recognise the essential contribution of Business and Enterprise to the world in which we live, and this is central to our curriculum.

I, our Governors and my dedicated team of staff, place great emphasis on high standards. The celebration of student achievements permeates the life of the school. Through our merit system students are encouraged not to be satisfied with mediocrity but to strive for real excellence. We, at The Chafford, call it 'Going for Gold'.

Many of our students achieve very high academic standards: 11 or 12 A*- C passes at GCSE are not unusual. We recognise that some of our students will have outstanding talents in one or more areas and we aim to stretch these through our Gifted and Talented programmes. Our athletes are well represented at District, County and National levels and we were very proud to be awarded the prestigious Sportsmark Gold by Sport England. Our artists are sought after by colleges of art, our musicians by the Royal College of Music and our Drama students have trodden the boards in the local theatres and the West End.

We place great emphasis on the care and happiness of our students and have a pastoral care system second to none.

We enjoy excellent facilities. A Specialist Business and Enterprise centre which simulates the environment and equipment of what is cutting edge in the business world; refurbished Science Laboratories and a purpose built Drama studio. Our sports facilities are excellent. We have use of the Chafford Sports Complex with its sports hall and swimming pool throughout the school day and a wide range of tennis, netball and volleyball courts, an all weather pitch and pitches for rugby, football and hockey as well as facilities for trampolining. We have over 400 computers for student use and all departments have easy access to state of the art ICT facilities and interactive white boards.

All my staff and support workers are caring, professional and well qualified. We were awarded Investor in People status for our commitment to training and development.

I am very proud to be Headteacher here. I am always delighted to meet parents and prospective students and to have the opportunity to show you our school and to discuss the opportunities here for your child.
